Trace vs Sidecar
Telemetry and privacy
X-40™ can operate with token-level telemetry (when available) or in privacy-max sidecar mode using minimal signals.
Trace (token telemetry)
When a model/provider can supply token-level telemetry (logprobs + top-k margins), X-40™ measures uncertainty dynamics with higher resolution.
- tokens
- chosen logprobs
- top-k logprobs per step (margin)
Sidecar (privacy-max)
You call your model directly. You send only the minimum needed to X-40™ (text and/or minimal telemetry). This is the best option for regulated environments and strict data boundaries.
- output text (or hashed text)
- confidence/margin signals you already compute
- batch drift markers (ML)
Privacy control
Privacy is enforced by trace mode: none, summary, full. Most production deployments use summary or none.
